Fairness of High-Speed TCP Protocols with Different Flow Capacities

چکیده
Nowadays, the performance evaluation of high-speed TCP protocols is the subject of intensive research. The main criteria used to evaluate the performance are: Fairness, Backward compatibility, Efficiency, Responsiveness, Scalability, TCP friendliness, and convergence. Most of researches were conducted to evaluate fairness. The majority of these researches used only two flows in a Dumbbell topology. Only few papers used several flows. In all cases, to the best of our knowledge, all flows have the same capacity which may not give an accurate idea about Fairness of different protocols and impact performance results. We propose an evaluation method of Fairness for different high-speed protocols: HTCP, HS-TCP, Scalable TCP, BIC-TCP and CUBIC protocols using multiple flows with the same flow capacity, and with different flow capacities.

Improving Throughput in Real-time Simulation of High Speed Tcp Protocols
Round Trip Time (RTT) estimation is an important variable for efficient fairness bandwidth flows of different RTT. This paper propose a stabilized rate scheme to enhance the RTT fairness on high speed Transmission Control Protocols (TCP) namely BIC-TCP, FAST, H-TCP and LTCP. The rate of window growth is stabilized in high speed protocols from the current window size, such that competing flows a...
متن کاملImpact of background traffic on performance of high-speed TCP variant protocols
This paper examines the effect of background traffic on the performance of existing high-speed TCP variant protocols, namely BIC-TCP, CUBIC, FAST, HSTCP, H-TCP and Scalable TCP. We demonstrate that the stability, link utilization, convergence speed and fairness of the protocols are clearly affected by the variability of flow sizes and round-trip times (RTTs), and the amount of background flows ...
متن کاملQTCP: An Approach for Exploring Inter and Intra Protocols Fairness
TCP provides communication service however the network congestion is one of the core issues, it occurs when a link carry so much data, and effects on delay, packet loss rate and fairness. When the available bandwidth becomes very high, TCP, as tuned today, does not perform well. Several high-speed variants of TCP have been implemented to resolve the congestion issue , such as High-Speed TCP (HS...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation and Comparison of Transport Protocols for Fast Long-Distance Networks
It is well known that TCP does not fully utilize the available bandwidth in fast long-distance networks. To solve this scalability problem, several high speed transport protocols have been proposed. They include HighSpeed TCP (HS-TCP), Scalable TCP (S-TCP), Binary increase control TCP (BIC-TCP), and H-TCP. These protocols increase (decrease) their window size more aggressively (slowly) compared...
متن کاملImpact of Drop Synchronisation on TCP Fairness in High Bandwidth-Delay Product Networks
In this paper we consider the performance of several well known high speed protocols in environments where individual flows experience different probabilities of seeing a drop in drop-tail buffers. Our initial results suggest the properties of networks in which these protocols are deployed can be sensitive to changes in these probabilities. Our results also suggest that AQMprotocol co-design ma...
